ENGAGE, INSPIRE, DEVELOP, ENJOY.

Penshurst RSL Kookaburras JRLFC are a proud community centred club that provides a welcoming and family friendly environment for all players, supporters and lovers of the greatest game of all - Rugby League!

This is underpinned by the following values:

  1. Engage - with our community, membership and participants.
  2. Inspire - Our kids to be the best that they can be.
  3. Develop - of our players, coaches and team staff.
  4. Enjoy - he whole reason why we are all involved in Rugby League.

Founded in 1961, we are very proud of our long and rich history. Woven deep within the fabric of our history is our affiliation with Penshurst RSL club, which has formed an important part of our club’s identity. We fondly refer to ourselves as ‘the rissoles’, and although we adopted the Kookaburra as our club mascot in 2019, this tradition lives on through the words of our club song. You will hear the words of our song sung very loudly, and sometimes very badly, after a win on the footy field.

We have produced a long and impressive list of NRL, NSW and Australian representative players. We play and train out of our home ground at HV Evatt Park in Lugarno and continue to play in our traditional colours of green and gold.

2020, 2021 and 2022 were difficult years for all community sporting clubs with shortened seasons, initially due to Covid -19 Restriction and then in 2022 La-Nina hit and caused many weeks of washed out training and games. Despite this, Penshurst RSL Kookaburras JRLFC celebrated some impressive milestones

  • We celebrated our 60th Anniversary in 2021.
  • We have grown our participation numbers by 21% over that period.
  • Increased the participation of girls in the Junior ranks by 500%.
  • Fielded our inaugural team in the Girls Under 18s NSWRL conference competitions in 2021 and;
  • Fielded our inaugural team in the Open Womens NSWRL conference competitions in 2022.

We are very proud of these results and will continue to build on this momentum into the 2023 season and will field an U14s Girls tackle team and the return of our A- Grade (Open Mens) team and back up our success of our Runner up Open Womens team who in cidently have had several players in The St George Womens Development program and Tarsha Gale competition squads.
